Experience as a Mediator
John also serves as a neutral Mediator on employment, labor and consumer cases. John is selected or appointed by other attorneys as part of the Alternate Dispute Resolution (“ADR”) portion of his law practice which he has been steadily developing during approximately the last fifteen years. John was certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Circuit Civil Mediator in 2004. He has been engaged to mediate cases involving claims under the FLSA, the FMLA and cases involving consumer rights and breach of contract. He has served as an advocate in approximately 200 pre-suit and court ordered private mediation conferences and mediation conferences sponsored by federal, state and local administrative agencies.
As an advocate, the majority of mediation conferences have resulted in settlements. Cases have involved single and multiple party claims, mediations at the administrative agency, pre-suit, and at the trial and appellate court levels of the litigation process and settlements with economic terms in five and six figure amounts and involving non economic terms negotiated by the parties.
Experience as an Arbitrator
John has served as a neutral and an advocate in numerous arbitrations. He has been an active American Arbitration Association panel member for employment and consumer law matters since 2007. He has served as an advocate in labor arbitration proceedings involving employee termination, discipline, and job classification/seniority rights and in employment related and commercial arbitrations pertaining to terms of employment agreements, commercial and business related disputes, collection matters and in FINRA (formerly NASD) arbitration proceedings.
